OUR Brick stain removal & Cleaning METHODOLOGY & Pricing
N.B. All prices ex gst
Stains require different chemical treatments and some can be very complex and persistent. Our treatments are based on
practical chemistry and may involve a number of steps although we can often remove them all on our first visit.
Our approach:
-
Identification
-
Initial site inspection and chemical testing
-
Where appropriate we remove them while on site
-
If required we issue a written report identifying the stain and
-
then provide a recommended rectification treatment with costs
-
-
-
Removal
-
Some stains like Manganese and Mineral Silicate staining may require multiple visits
-
-
Final check.
-
More treatment if required.

The stains may be Efflorescence, Mineral Silicates, Salts, Calcium Salts, Manganese, Iron, Molybdenum, Vanadium, paint or
render. General mortar bed and brick tidy-up work may be involved but this will be costed as an extra done while on site.

N.B.B. Manganese may require multiple visits before it is finally eliminated, but they all need water to form so if there is
excessive water exposure they will recur.
N.B.B.B. Neutralisation is recommended
Mineral Silicate, Calcium or Acid insoluble Salt Stains removal
These are usually formed by excessive water exposure, the use of extremely hard plasticized mortar and/or white mortar. They are hard to remove so it may take a few visits to remove them. They require toxic Fluoride ions from HF acid (Hydrogen Fluoride). This is one of the worlds most toxic and dangerous chemicals. It can kill by skin absorption from a spill. See MSDS below. Requires disposable PPE.
Spot treatments
Degree of difficulty dependent $TBA
Single house
3000 to 8000 bricks $2600
Doubles 45 courses
8000-11000 bricks $3700
Doubles 60 plus courses $7500
Neutralization using TSP Add 15%
We may choose to use TSP, NaOH, KOH, NaHCO3 or Na2CO3 . They must be rinsed off as they all will leave white deposits
N.B. All the above prices are depend on site variables and the degree of difficulty. They will be adjusted based on a site visit.
All chemicals charged as recoverables
Equipment: Any test equipment, like moisture meters, portable scaffold, ladders and disposable safety equipment that is
required to analyse and remove these stains are charged per job as they are generally used once and disposed or returned.
